What I Learned From the Crusades
Violence in the name of God for the glory of God

It’s crazy to think that there was a time in church history when the land was conquered, and people were killed in the name of God for the Glory of God.
I heard about war and fighting between Christians and Muslims in church history, but the details and reasons are not often talked about in the church.
It’s important for us to know our history so that we can learn from history and not make the same mistakes. I am not going to act like I am a professional on the crusades. Just getting started on building my opinion on it.
What happened? What was going on in the background? How did they justify their actions?

The crusades started with the pope’s call for a crusade to take back the Christian lands of Palestine and Spain. The first crusades in 1096 were directed towards recapturing Palestine and Spain from the Muslim empire.
The Seljuk Turks, a new Muslim dynasty, had taken control of Palestine and disallowed Christian pilgrimages to the Holy City of Jerusalem. The Christian empires in the east and west were feeling…
